Freedom VS Bondage
Freedom: the quality or state of being free: independence: exemption, release
Bondage: Slavery, servitude
Many people believe that Christians have tons of restrictions, that they can't live a happy and fulfilled life, they are in bondage by their God and all his rules. I may have even been guilty of having thoughts very similar to those in my teenage years, and even up to my mid 20's. Some people believe in God but simply don't want to follow his commands, they feel they can get by on their own and they don't need God telling them what to do, and then there are others who believe in God, but figure they can put off His word for later in their life. I think one of the biggest reasons Christians and many people do not take up their cross daily and live for Christ is because there is a bondage or two in their lives that they either don't realize they have or are not ready to give up.
The Bible lays out how we should conduct our lives, and explains how we can be free from worldly bondages, many people would rather wallow in their sin than to break free and live a life of freedom in Christ. I can tell you through personal experience that once you give God control of you life you will not look at Gods word as restriction but as freedom from the bondages holding you back from fulfilling the destiny God put's forth in all of our lives.
When you buy a new car and something fails on it, you take it back to the dealership that you bought that car from. The reason dealerships are better equipped to handle your new car problems is because they get support from the manufacturer, the manufacturer is the creator of your new car, they know that car better than anyone else, they came up with the design, they engineered it, and in the end they built it from the ground up. They give the dealership mechanic all the tools and information they need to get the car back on the road, the Bible is much the same way, God has laid out His Word in the Bible to get YOU the CREATION back on track, you get information and the tools necessary from the Bible straight from the Creator on how to live a free and productive life.
Bondages come in all forms, it could be money, drug addiction, sexual addiction, alcoholism, a hateful tongue, gossip, etc..
