VH1 Totally Gayer

I can't say that I am surprised, but much to my disappointment as I was channel surfing tonight I was faced with 2 men kissing each other. That I am sorry to say was just the tip of the iceberg. VH1 decided to glorify the gays/lesbians in their hour long show 'Totally Gayer'. This was not late night programming either. I understand Satellite and Cable don't have to live by the same standards as the networks, and I also agree that a cable/network can show whatever they want within reason. I believe in freedom of speech. I also don't believe in censorship. What I don't understand is why the networks or the people who choose the programming for these channels think the general public in America want to see these type of things?

A few years ago it might have been hip to have a token gay man or lesbian in your show. Or going back even farther you might introduce some sort of gayness in the programming to get the shock factor, since this was completely unacceptable not that long ago. But I argue that now it has been 'played out'. It's no longer shocking, and while some might find it hip, the majority of Americans find it disgusting. I don't just pull that idea out of thin air. Every single poll I have seen indicated that the majority of the American public is against same/sex marriage. The majority of Americans are Christian(I have seen numbers from anywhere from 80% to 90%). It doesn't take a rocket scientist to connect the marriage issue with the gay issue in general. While it is not politically correct in this day and age to disagree with someone else's 'lifestyle' choices the fact of the matter is that the majority of people in this country do not agree with the homosexual/lesbian lifestyle.

The right or conservative news and talk shows are dominating their markets. Americans no longer look to the networks or CNN for their news. More and more people are tuning into Fox news and other more right/conservative news channels. Don't take my word for it, look at the ratings. It seems like every time a big story breaks Fox gathers the most ratings. Shows like Bill Oreilly, Hannity, Limbaugh, etc..all bring in big numbers, and if those hosts writes a book it too becomes a best seller. We see the outrage from the Super Bowl half-time show. People are getting fed up. FCC is cracking down on shock jocks from the pressure of the people. Howard Stern points to Bush and the right wing religious groups for his certain demise after 20 years on the radio. The problem with that theory is you would have to discredit all the people who called in to complain about the Super Bowl escapade, that is what sparked the FCC into action. The people have spoken.

I have to wonder if Hollywood is going to get the picture. I find it funny that the 2 biggest movies of last year and this year so far are connected in one way or the other with Christianity. First we have the Jr Tolkien movie Return of the King. The liberal media won't report this, but Jr Tolkien was a Christian. Those books he wrote have very similar parallels with the Bible. Jr Tolkien was also a very close friend to C.S. Lewis who is considered one of the greatest Christian authors of all time. Tolkien's Christianity in his book did not show up as allegory or analogy, but as deep undergirding presuppositions, similarities of pattern, and shared symbols. The second of course is the Passion of the Christ. Surrounded by controversy months before it's even released. I believe we are seeing a strong spiritual warfare taking place with this movie and the general public will never even realize it. The good thing about spiritual warfare is if you are on the right side of it you will triumph, as Mel Gibson is doing. It is going to be the highest grossing R-Rated film in history, and shows no sign of letting up soon. I have been doing a lot of research about Spiritual warfare the last few months, and it didn't take long for me to realize that Gibson and his film were smack dab in the middle of a serious war. People that had not even seen the movie had their minds made up that it was anti-Semitic and were jumping on the bashing bandwagon. The funny thing is it had the reverse effect. The negative publicity that Satan and company tried to drum up all but guaranteed success. I am glad Mel went forward, even when he couldn't get anyone to publish the movie. We may not know the trials Gibson went through with this movie from making it to releasing it, but I would guess from my own experience with spiritual warfare it was not a easy road. We are seeing a shift, and Hollywood should take note. If you put out a good movie with moral and ethical themes the people will spend their money.

I do not know what kind of rating Totally Gayer will pull in. I am guessing probably not much since it's on the second fiddle VH1 to begin with. I find it really shameful that networks like Mtv and Vh1 which obliviously have a left wing far liberal agenda are directed toward the children. Most adults could care less what's on MTV but we have a whole generation raised on it, and infected with their vile anything goes agenda. I would also challenge that if a wholesome hip music channel was introduced into cable/satellites airwaves it would easily challenge the channels already in place. The problem with that is the mainstream media has everyone believing what they show is what everyone wants. The general public's voice has not been heard to loudly. The small groups are making the decisions for the masses. But I believe our voice is getting louder. It seem's like maybe America is on a wake-up call. We are finally starting to stand up and speak out. The Super Bowl fiasco is proof of that. The more people support wholesome programming and the harder we hit the far liberal left's pocketbook the more progress we will make in taking America back. It's not really that the public has changed that much, the polls show that we are still a Christian nation and we have Christian morals. But our voices have been silent. We are branded intolerant or bigoted if we speak out. Political correctness and Tolerance have led us down a path of complete and utter immorality. The media keeps pushing the edge farther and farther. It is time for majority to stand up and be heard. If that means being labeled a bigot then so be it. I am not suggesting we go out and start gay bashing. I am suggesting that we hold the media and the places we spend our money accountable for what they produce. If its immoral then we have the right to withhold our money. We have the right to change the channel. We have the right to not patronize their advertisers. Right now the minority in this country are holding our airwaves hostage. Its time for the majority to take them back.

I personally sent a letter to Vh1. I am sure it will go mostly unnoticed, but at least my voice was heard. The more people who speak out the more change we will see. I urge people to be heard. Don't let someone else do it for you, because that is the mentality we have now. The problem with that is that 'someone' else is doing the same. We have to band together to spark a change.
